Woods withdraws from Dubai Desert Classic
Tiger Woods has withdrawn from the Omega Dubai Desert Classic before the start of the second round due to back pain on Friday.
The 14-time major winner appeared to be in some discomfort during his opening round on Thursday, with five bogeys leading to a disappointing five over 77 around the gusty Emirates Golf Club.
While Woods insisted he was not in pain during his post-round interviews, he withdrew from the European Tour event first thing on Friday morning, citing back issues.
Woods spent a long spell on the sides after multiple back surgeries and another serious injury could spell the end of an illustrious career.
“I wasn’t in pain at all. I was just trying to hit shots and I wasn’t doing a very good job,” Woods said after his opening round.
